XAMPP is a software distribution that provides the Apache web server, MySQL database (actually Maria DB), Php, and Perl (as command-line executables and Apache modules) all in one package. It is available for Windows, MAC and Linux systems. No configuration is necessary to integrate Php with MySQL.

STEP 2: On opening the link, download xampp according to the operating system in use.

STEP 3:  Open the downloaded file and install it by clicking on “next”

STEP 4: Let it get saved at the default location

STEP 5: Click on Start button and type “xampp”, now open it.

Installation Of WordPress

STEP 2: Now download the latest version as shown

STEP 3: After it gets downloaded, go to downloads. Then right click on the new WordPress icon and tap on “extract here”.

STEP 4: this is a very important step. Copy the WordPress folder which has been made after you pressed “extract here”. Now go to local disk(c:), open the folder named “xampp”.

STEP 5:  OPEN THE FOLDER NAMED “htdocs” AND PASTE THE EARLIER COPIED WordPress.

STEP 6: Now as the installation processes are over, open google and type “local host/WordPress”. Such a window will appear as shown below.

STEP 7: To create a database named WordPress. Open another tab and type “localhost/phpmyadmin”. Click on “databases” and write “WordPress” in the box provided and just tap on “create”. You can close this tab now, it will function automatically.

STEP 8: Open the previous tab on which we were. Now choose the language as English and write “wordpress” against the database name.

Further, write “root” in the username and leave the password space blank. This is a fixed process while using xampp. Without changing anything else press “submit”.

STEP 9: Now run the installation. Fill the box against the site name and enter the username and password of your own choice.

STEP 10: Enter your email and this completes our process. You can now click on “Install WordPress”. Now you can enter your username and password.

STEP 11: Your dashboard will now get opened. You can see that the base of your website has already been created. You can place your cursor on the site name and click on “visit site”.

#POSTS/PAGES-

STEP 12: On the left side, click on “posts”, then click on “all posts”. A window will appear in from of you. Now click on “Add New” to get started.

NOTE:  There is no limit on the number of posts or pages that can be created.

STEP 13: Add a suitable title or heading to your post/page. Here, it is “Python Programming”. You can move your cursor below the heading and add your content and images respectively. There are numerous options to add in your post and glorify it accordingly.

STEP 14:  It is very important to publish all the changes and edits you are making in order to get them shown on the website.

STEP 15: You can open your website by clicking on the site name and watch how the post will get shown.

Note that when you scroll down there is a facility to comment also which is provided by WordPress itself.

STEP 16: Moving on to some great features and customizations which WordPress offers. One of them is “featured image”. Check your right-hand side column and you will find plenty of customizations.

STEP 17: You can even choose when your post should be published on the website by clicking on “publish” in the status & visibility column. You can even change the visibility accordingly. Both images have been provided below.

STEP 18: You can also change the URL by clicking on “Permalink” and make further edits.

STEP 19: Now, you can also choose and form categories according to your post on the website.

In short, categories are the most general method of grouping content on a WordPress site. A category symbolizes a topic or a group of topics that are connected to one another in some way.

By default is it “uncategorized”, you can always add a news category.

STEP 20: You can also add tags which eventually help in SEO. When visitors click on a particular tag, they reach the page whereon all posts, having the same tag, are displayed. It allows them to look for the desired content easily.

STEP 21: You can add your introductory matter by clicking on “excerpt” and watch how it gets shown on the website. An excerpt in WordPress is a term used for article summary with a link to the whole entry.

Further, it is totally your choice to get the list checked in discussion below.

STEP 22: You can click on the update on the top right corner and watch the website.

#APPEARANCE/THEMES-

STEP 23: Moving on, visit your dashboard again and click on “appearance” then “themes”. The Appearance Themes Screen allows you to manage your Themes. That means you can install, preview, delete Themes, activate, and update Themes.

A WordPress Theme is a collection of files that work together to produce a graphical interface.

STEP 24: You can delete the existing themes and then click on “Add New” to add more exciting themes. You will need to install them and then activate them. You can now reload the page where your website is open and get amazed by the view.

  • You can also add themes from outside. You can go to google and open “wordpress.org” and choose themes. From there you can download any theme you like. Now in order to use that theme, you have to extract it and copy it. Then go to “htdocs” folder. After that, open “WordPress” and then open “wp-content” and finally click on themes and paste your theme which you had copied.

#SETTINGS-

STEP 25: Come back to the dashboard again and click on “settings” then “general”.  A list of settings will appear allowing you to change your “site title”, “tag line”, “email address” and many more customizations.

After you are done with the edits in “settings”, press “save changes”.

STEP 26: You can now dig deep into the settings part and the option it serves. You can open “Writing” and “reading” and check out diverse options to edit.

STEP 27: Now open “Plugins” and select all. Change the bulk option to “delete” and delete all the plugins by clicking on “Apply”. We will add plugins as and when required for our website.

#PAGES-

STEP 28: Now we will talk about “pages”. Click on “pages” from the left column of the dashboard. Click on “Add new”. Add a title to your page and further beautify it according to personal choices and needs. At last, click on “publish”. In this tutorial, multiple pages have been created such as-“home”, “about us”, “our services” and “contact us”.

You can always add multiple pages.

STEP 29:  As you open your website after making these pages, you can see there is no difference in the final website. You are right. We need to link those pages in settings such they show up on our website.

Go to “settings”, then click on “reading” and make the required changes. Click on “save changes” to save the edits.

According to the given snip, the “home” page will be displayed in the place of the homepage and all the posts will appear on the “BLOG” page.

STEP 30: Visit the dashboard again, now click on “Appearance”, then click on “Menus”. Create a menu named “main menu”. You can name it as per your choice. Drag menu items up or down to change their order of appearance in the menu. Drag menu items left or right in order to create sub-levels within your menu.

Select the pages you want to add in your menu and click “Add to Menu”.

STEP 31: You also need to tap “save menu”. On the same page select “manage locations” and choose your location of menu accordingly. When you tap on “save changes”, your menu bar will appear on your website. Go check it out!

NOTE: DIFFERENCES BETWEEN POSTS AND PAGES:

As a beginner, you are probably wondering what the difference between posts vs pages is. They seem to look similar in the WordPress dashboard as well as on the website.

  • Posts are timely vs. Pages are timeless.
  • Posts are social vs. Pages are NOT.
  • Posts are organized using categories and tags vs. Pages are hierarchical and can be organized as child and parent pages.
  • Posts are included in RSS feed vs. Pages are not.
  • Posts have author and published date vs Pages do not.

STEP 32: For more edits such as if you want to change the URL of your website, you can go to “settings” and then “permalinks”.

STEP 33: There is another way to customize also. You can click on “customize” which is available on the top black line, note that this black bar is only visible to the creator.

STEP 36: You can now open “plugins” and click on “installed plugins” to see what has been installed. Now click on “Add New” and then search “Elementor”, then install it. After it gets installed search “ WPForms Lite” and install it too.

STEP 37: After activation of both of the plugins, click on “WPForm Lite” and enter the “Form Name”. Then click on “Simple contact form”.

STEP 38: Now you can drag and drop the fields according to your need and requirements. You can also change the name of the field and add a description below it. You also have the option to either keep the field as required or not.

STEP 39: Now as the form has been prepared, you can now save it. Next, go to “dashboard” and then “pages”, open “contact us” page and now you can add this template over here. Place your cursor on the + sign and write WPForm, then you can select it and choose the “contact us” form from the list shown. Don’t forget to press “update”.

STEP 40: Now get back to the “dashboard” and click on “WPForms”, then “SMTP” and install the “WP Mail SMTP” After it gets installed, click on “SET UP” and click on “save settings”

  • YOUR WEBSITE IS READY.
